Montclair Community Corridor (MCC) is an alliance of active, community-oriented residents around the neighborhood of Montclair, in Oakland, CA. We are affiliated and housed under the Montclair Action Team. Our mission is to advocate for solutions that will make it safe for everyone of all ages and abilities to move around the neighborhood of Montclair, Oakland, CA on foot, by bike and other wheels, and by car.
Goals:
Make the streets safe for people walking, bicycling, and driving
Make it easy to get into and around Montclair, including: the business district, Montclair Park, Montclair Library, and the many schools and businesses nearby
Ensure a safe and orderly flow of traffic
Top 5 priorities:
Give Montclair Community Corridor a seat at the table for the 2028 Moraga Ave redesign to:
Reduce the speed of traffic along Moraga Avenue
Add protected bicycle lanes
Add a pedestrian signal below the pedestrian over cross at the crosswalk
Fix known dangerous areas
La Salle and Moraga (bulb-outs, no right on red)
Mountain Blvd between Colton and Lucky’s is twice as wide as it needs to be, and the sidewalks are too narrow (ADA violation)
Fix Daylighting Violations per CA State Law effective 1/1/25: Fix the 20 significant daylighting violations and parking enforcement gaps that put pedestrians at immediate risk
Add sidewalks to reduce immediate pedestrian risk
Moraga Avenue between Montclair Park and Thornhill
La Salle between highway 13 overpass and Liggett, then up to the top of the hill
Slow down high-speed streets
